Transfer Pricing Update: Are you aware of the new legislation?
At the November G20 summit in Antalya, a major agenda item was how to aggressively continue global activity to tackle cross-border tax avoidance, including finalization and implementation of the Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) action plan. Focus included the issues of harmful tax competition and automatic exchange of information on tax rulings. In step with October 6th agreements of EU Finance Ministers, the Danish parliament has recently passed rulings to encourage speedy and comprehensive action on BEPS. THIS HAS MAJOR IMPLICATIONS FOR DANISH COMPANIES, AND MOST DON'T YET REALIZE IT!
Does your company have a full understanding of:
- What your company must do during 2016 to comply with the new rules?
- Whether your business model is sustainable, given the new focus on Substance?
- How this affects you if you are owned by or own, a US subsidiary?
Welcome to this morning briefing to learn about how to prepare and protect your company.

Insurance Challenges in the US: Ask the experts
At this Sept. 29th event, DABF featured US and Danish specialists from both AIG and Aon, to help member companies understand how to manage different types of risks in the US market. With humor and deep insight, they addressed issues such as state differences in Worker's Compensation, Auto, Employer Practice Liability, and Cyber Risk. They quizzed us on issues such as what to do about employees who travel state to state, risks of encountering uninsured drivers in US, and differences between insuring employees and expats, and AIG showed us their online tools that help companies create required documents in US, such as Employee Handbooks.

One positive feature of the post-crisis global economy is the increase in M&A. Potential business benefits are great, but far too few deliver the sought-after profitability, market share, and increased company momentum. High failure rates, especially with cross-border mergers, happen when incompatibilities surface between the two organizations. DABF and member companies explored how to maximize value from M&S investments by having a clear positioning strategy, acknowledging and benefiting from cultural diversity, and developing clear shared processes that smooth the transition. We heard from Michael Sherain at host Quadric, Heidi Rottbøll Andersen, founder of Living Insitute, and Peter Kürstein, Chairman of Radiometer.

Been sued in the US? What to do, when to do it, and what to expect
Danish companies often don't know what to expect in terms of risk from the American legal system. Without proper legal guidance, they often mistake the importance of document retention programs, early witness interviews to preserve evidence, etc. Join DABF and our experts from the US and Denmark to learn more about the key distinctions and similarities between litigation in the US and in Denmark. We'll focus on the US state vs. federal systems, the discovery process in US courts, the jury system, and more.
