Michael Zahrin

Michael Zarin joined Vestas Wind Systems’ Group Government Relations unit in October 2007 as Director and International Policy Advisor. In January 2008, he was appointed as a deputy to the Senior Vice President for Government Relations.
His main areas of responsibility include internal and external communications, including Vestas’ involvement with global industry and business associations. He is also responsible for Vestas’ activities related to climate change as well as supporting commercial and government relations colleagues in the United States, Latin America, and the Mediterranean region.
Prior to re-locating in Denmark, Michael served on the U.S. Department of State’s Policy Planning Staff, advising Secretary of State Colin Powell and other senior officials on Latin America policy matters. During the 1990’s, Michael worked at the International Republican Institute, a non-partisan NGO promoting democracy and civic education worldwide. Prior to that, Michael served on the staff of U.S. Senator David Durenberger, advising the Senator on foreign policy and national security matters.

Immediately prior to that, he had been posted as the U.S. Department of State Representative to the Provincial Reconstruction Team in Jalalabad, Afghanistan – approximately 70 km from the Afghan-Pakistan border on the main highway between Kabul and Islamabad. Previous postings include Bucharest, Romania, and Manila, Philippines. Prior to joining the Foreign Service on September 10, 2001, Mr. Waddoups served for seven years in the U.S. Navy. He is originally from Roy, Utah, but now calls Arlington, Virginia, home. Thomas Bustrup is Deputy Director General at DI Since 1996,. Also, Mr. Bustrup has engaged in developing and implementing twinning projects with DI's sister organisations in Africa, Asia, and South America. He is experienced in analysing the differences in business culture in Denmark and developing countries and its effect on management and the business systems of the involved companies, and has made more than 60 visits to developing countries.
