Get in touch with the American Consumer – right in your own backyard

For those of you interested in gaining insight into the US consumer market, there is an interesting pool of untapped resources in our own backyard.

Every half year, the Danish Institute for Study Abroad (DIS) hosts around 900 students from the US in its study abroad program. The students are American university students, typically in their 3rd or 4th year of their undergraduate studies. They attend some of the most selective universities in the US, and they come to Copenhagen to study and gain first-hand knowledge of the European business market.

DIS also works to pair students with local businesses, either through internships or short-term projects. The benefits for the businesses are that they get young, energetic workers who can provide an interesting perspective on US consumer and digital trends. In the past, DIS students have worked on projects for Carlsberg, Danfoss, Nordea, Magasin and Maersk. They have earned a reputation for their dedication, hard work and innovative approach to business projects.

Need an American perspective?
DIS is interested in cultivating relationships with DABF member businesses. If you have a project which could benefit from an American perspective, or if you have internship opportunities for DIS students, please contact Kimberly Sallingboe, International Business Internship Coordinator, at ksa@dis.dk.
