The US Government is making enforcement of its export control laws and economic sanctions regulations a
priority. In 2010, there were almost one billion dollars in fines levied against non-US businesses for violations of these laws. Individual fines have exceeded $350 million,and have been levied for conduct that occurred entirely
outside the US and without a single American citizen involved.
