Newsletter - June 2011

Dear Friends and Members,

Looking back at a great Annual Meeting on April 5, I am very appreciative that so many members contributed to making it successful. Success in the US is our very reason to be, and our four speakers enlightened us with their reflections on how to achieve it. Below you can read the highlights and access presentations from the meeting.

Another spring highlight: our yearly networking dinner at Rydhave, the residence of the US Ambassador. It was - as always - an enjoyable evening with networking at its best. We would like to thank Ambassador Laurie S. Fulton and her excellent staff for making this possible.

Be sure to take advantage of the DABF events coming up right after the summer vacation. In August we'll focus on two important issues: Shaping your marketing for a US audience and Securing US capital. Much more is on the agenda. See right column for headlines and keep an eye on your inbox for invitations soon.

We, the DABF team, look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events!

Thank you,
Einar Dyrhauge, Executive Director

Is your company subject to US anti-bribery law?

Many Danish companies don't realize, but doing business in the US makes all of your operations -globally - subject to US anti-bribery law. These laws are very different from corresponding Danish laws and should not to be taken lightly. In May we had an anti-bribery and corruption seminar in cooperation with Lett Law Firm. Get the hand-outs from the seminar.

DABF Working Groups:
Use our network to solve your challenges!

Benefit from the exchange of knowledge and experience with other members who share your challenges. We regularly set up Working Groups for our members to share information in small groups based on trust and open discussion. Recently, our members have shared challenges and solutions on topics such as: establishment models, sales and distribution, US partnerships, distributors versus agents and distance leadership. Call us if you'd like to participate.

The American Production Industry is Gaining on China

While the world has been preparing itself for China becoming the world's largest economy in 2050 (a position currently held by the US) Boston Consulting Group has released an interesting new rapport. 'Made in the US, Again' portrays a brighter picture for the American economy. It suggests that the American economy in 2015, due to gains in competitiveness, will be challenging China's position as the world's leading industrial power, a position the US lost to China last year. The American Paradox: Between Economic Growth, Budget Deficit and Unemployment
Measured in GDP, the American Economy reached its pre-crisis level already in the beginning of 2010.
